My deck or fence is gray and embarrassingly ugly, what can I do about it?

The professionals at PRO-TEC offer solutions to each of these questions. Due to the nature of wood, all unprotected exterior wood turns gray because of mildew, fungus and ultraviolet light from the sun. Water also penetrates unprotected wood cracking & rotting it. This gray color can be eliminated by PRO-TEC's Deck & Fence Care System:

Step 1 (Powerwashing): A trained professional will carefully clean your deck or fence using high powered streams of water removing the gray, mildew & fungus layer of the wood. We do not use harmful chemicals in this process, thus making it safe for: you, your pets, the wood and outdoor plant life. After your deck or fence has been power washed you will notice a significant color change, bringing back a high percentage of the wood's original color.

Step 2 (Seal & Stain): Once the wood has had time to dry from being power washed, we will return to then seal & stain your deck or fence. We use a professional grade stain and seal combination called TWP® (Total Wood Preservative). Your PRO-TEC professional will carefully apply TWP® to your deck or fence, leaving both the waterproofing agent to protect the wood & also a beautiful rich color stain. TWP® is applied with two wet coats to insure maximum protection & coverage.

I have a brand new deck or fence, does it need to be treated?

Yes. The best time to take care of your new deck or fence is while you are ahead of the game. Your new wood contains natural juices and needs to dry out before you have it PRO-TECed. It usually takes a few months to dry out based on the type of wood & weather conditions. Once the wood has weathered then it is ready to be sealed and stained.

Do you do any thing to protect my house or plants from damage?

Yes! TWP® is applied by both spraying and hand brushing it on. Unlike other "stain" companies we pride ourselves on the amount of time & care we take in preparing your house and plants before we begin to apply the stain treatment. We can spend more time preparing your deck, house and outdoors for the stain application than it can actually take to apply the TWP ®. We use large tarps to cover bushes and grass that may be exposed to TWP® . We then cover the immediate area of the house with masking paper, plastic sheets and drop cloths to ensure that when we leave, only the deck or fence is stained, not everything else. My deck or fence is old and is in need of some repair, can PRO-TEC help me?

Yes! At PRO-TEC we pride ourselves on the ability to offer you complete deck & fence care. Unlike other companies who only stain, with PRO-TEC on your side you can truly restore your deck or fence. Where necessary we can:

• sand rough spots on the deck or handrails thus reducing splinters

• recess raised nail or screws heads

• make both minor or major repairs, such as broken lattice, missing balusters, cracked floor boards & more!

My deck or fence has mold & fungus growing on it, can you help me?

Yes! Mold and fungus are usually the result of stored water in the wood, meaning the wood is not being protected properly. During the power washing process the existing mold and fungus will be blasted off. To help prevent this from happening again, be sure to have your wood properly sealed to help the run off of water.

When can I walk on my deck after it has been stained & sealed?

As soon as it has had time to completely dry. During the hot summer months this can be as soon as 24hrs afterwards. With cooler weather the time to wait will obviously increase. Once the deck is dry, the waiting is over and you can place your furniture back on and walk around on it with bare feet.
